Passenger Information Display System
The system is intended for providing information services to passengers in the buildings of the railway station at the level of European standards.
It provides a display of train timetables, information about arrival and departure of trains, their placement on railway tracks, the changes in the train schedule, availability of seats in trains on the current and the next day, referential announcements, coordinated by time and place. Display of informative, cognitive and promotional information, as well as digital clock, is also possible.
In addition, the system can provide an interactive information service to passengers, for example, inform passengers about train arrival for boarding, inform persons who are meeting the passengers about train delays via SMS, can use online data to inform departing passengers about weather forecast in a place of arrival, exchange rates, current news, etc.
The system includes the prompt ways to inform the passengers: multifunction information displays (Conrac and BMG, Germany) and information boards (BMG), cable network for data transmission, terminal, telecommunication and computer equipment, means of ensuring uninterrupted operation, specialized software.
The system mainly operates in automatic mode. One operator is required to manage the delivery of information to all the display facilities in manual mode and monitor their technical condition.
An important advantage of the system is its high reliability and fault-tolerance, achieved due to the use of certified equipment, world-class specialized software, as well as two-fold backup of the main components. The undisputed evidence of the technical perfection of the system is a fail-safe operation of the system, confirmed by the practice of its operation at Kyiv railway station, at “Boryspil” airport and many other places.
This system is recognized as the leader among passenger information display systems in Europe.
The sound system on the basis of the BOSCH production equipment, the world leader in the development and production of sound systems, is suggested for voice informing of passengers about the movement of trains, as well as alarm notification and background music broadcasting.
Sound system provides broadcasting in several areas, such as:
- Service (staff room, security room, ticket offices, etc.);
- Passenger area (waiting rooms, entry halls, recreation rooms and other.);
- Platforms (external loudspeakers).
In the suggested option, the broadcast of various programs to the selected areas is envisaged in addition to the transmission of information on train movement. For example, light background music may sound in the recreation room, advertisements – in waiting rooms, more dynamic music – in the entrance hall, information announcements – in service rooms. At the same time, an emergency message will be transmitted with an absolute priority over any other.
The equipment has a standard size and can be easily installed into a 19" rack. Due to the variety of functions, the sound system can be modified and extended.
All equipment meets the stringent requirements to the professional-grade equipment.
Sound system provides:
- Transmission of announcements and background music to one or more areas at the same time;
- Transmission of emergency announcements using handheld microphone;
- Control of performance of basic equipment units;
- Monitoring of the loudspeaker lines;
- Automatic switching to the backup power amplifier in case of failure of the main amplifier;
- Ability to broadcast pre-arranged messages (flexible digital messaging management);
- Ability to control the volume level separately for each area;
- Playback of CDs, a built-in tuner;
- Possibility of background music broadcasting in the areas where messages cannot be currently transmitted.
The system is a hardware-software complex, consisting of several logically complete components that can be placed on one or several servers or workstations, depending on the scale of the system being implemented.

The management server receives requests for broadcasting and executes them according to the given scenarios and patterns. It maintains a register of the speaker’s work in the system and records the changes made to the system database. It provides differentiation of access rights and priorities of speakers over different broadcast areas. It organizes monitoring of communication channels and provides appropriate messages in case of emergencies.
Broadcast module provides audio notification in the selected area. It takes control commands and data from the management server, and plays the received sound bites and messages in accordance with a predetermined mode.
System manager module provides a graphical user interface in order to manage the system as a whole. It allows editing and recording voice messages and other data, configuring and setting up the parameters of the system, viewing the broadcast register and user log reports, schedule of advertising and service messages, as well as setting interaction with FIDS.
Speaker module provides a user interface for managing one or more broadcast modules. It provides control of subordinate broadcast modules and enables quick intervention of the speaker into the broadcasting with a microphone.
Security CCTV System
According to the modern requirements for security assurance in crowded places, security service of the railway station needs to identify and prevent emerging threats in real time.
The video surveillance system has a geographically distributed structure to provide a single control and management from a central control station. It is suggested to equip the sites with the digital video surveillance system of the new generation on the basis of IP-technologies. This structure of the surveillance system will enable access to all devices that are in the network. Moreover, the system will enable viewing a video archive from remote local recording devices and set parameters of alarm activation.
The main emphasis is made on the ability to specify a logical sequence of the display of video surveillance cameras at the operator’s workplace, binding of camera icons and corresponding video windows to the maps of the sites, parameters of alarm signal activation and scenarios of display of the appropriate cameras when an alarm signal is activated, possibility to specify patrol routes, recording of all the events on the network disk array and availability of video archive during a specified time from any point of the network.
Flexible system construction and its subsequent extension are achieved by using IP cameras, which, in its turn, allows using a wide range of means of digital video stream transmission via TCP / IP networks over any distance (optic fiber, copper communication lines, wireless technologies).
Digital Clock System
The modern digital clock system (exact time indication system) is a complex of radio electronic and electromechanical equipment.
Digital clock equipment of buildings and streets differs by facade version of the clock face, as well as by the tolerance of temperature and weather conditions.
NIS company (Germany) is one of the leaders on the market of digital clock systems. Today it is the only company that offers the ability to integrate a variety of clocks and actuating devices, as well as automatic conversion of winter/summer time, into their equipment.

The main advantage of the digital clock system is the indication of an absolutely accurate time (with an error of run – 1s for 300000 years). The accuracy of signal timing is provided by cesium master clock at the Paris Bureau of Weights and Measures.
Digital clock system provides:
- Coordinated indications of all clocks at the site with a global universal time (UTC/GMT);
- Synchronous indication of an exact zone time in the pointer and digital formats on all clocks;
- Automatic conversion of clocks during the transition to winter/summer time;
- Automatic setting of the clock to the exact time after restoration of power or liquidation of the accident on a line;
- Automatic restoration of the correct indications of the clock at failures or during power interruption for a period of up to 1 week;
- Synchronization of the computer network in accordance with the calendar date and exact time;
- Simplicity of usage that does not require special training of the engineering personnel.
Control center is the center for monitoring and control of all the technological processes of the railway station. Taking into account the need to control a large number of parameters in complex distributed systems of management of the technological processes, including control over the video image from several hundreds of cameras, the control center has higher requirements in terms of tools to display and process continuously incoming information.
With due consideration of the fact that a significant role in the control of law and order in the station premises and on the platforms is given to the surveillance system, there arises the task of simultaneous video output and control from the large number of cameras. The best solution is to use multi-screen systems of visual information display – group screens or video walls.
The signals from the surveillance cameras are displayed on the video wall in the general control center or specialized center of the station security service. The video wall is the multi-screen systems constructed from individual elements – projection modules (video cubes) or professional LCD panels. The modular design of video walls allows creating the optimum configuration and extending the system, if necessary.
In addition to the output of signals from video cameras, video walls or group screens, allow displaying any video and graphical information from all station subsystems in the most convenient form.
